Abstract

The aim of this paper was to study the socioeconomic effect of genetically modified cotton production on New Halfa agricultural scheme farmers. It depended mainly on primary data, which was collected by the means of questionnaire techniques in season 2017/2018, and secondary data. Descriptive statistics, was employed to find frequencies, percentages, t-test and correlation using SPSS program, The result indicates that, genetically modified cotton production has positive socioeconomic effect on New Halfa agricultural scheme farmers. The study recommend that, the scheme management should have to expand on genetically modified cotton cultivation, produce the seeds in Sudan so as to facilitate its availability and reduce cost.
